"Come out of the sea and into my heart
My dark, my shining love.
Promise we shall never part,
My dark, my singing love."

This is no ordinary book. It is a key to another realm. I journeyed through the labyrinthine pathways of her heart to enter a secret world full of magic and beauty. And I am forever changed.

I have always been a creature of the sea. My soul heard her song and found it's way to her shore. She gives me shelter from the storm. Her heart keeps me warm.

Thank you, Lia, for sharing this precious treasure with me.

Note: I listened to this on repeat throughout. It fit so perfectly and added even more depth and wonder to my experience. ♡

A beautiful bite-sized book full of the lore and magic of the sea. I really enjoyed all the characters and the framing and pacing of the story - like an allegorical myth or an old sea-tale.

Beautiful prose, felt like a old fairy tale being told to me. The way McKillip writes, I felt like I was at the sea. Though the book is short, it is rather slow paced so keep that in mind. The book was moody and magical. The ending was also good and I am
glad she ended up with the magician and not one of the princes.

This book is in my house. No one knows where from but I've read it more than once now and I like it.

This was a really beautiful little story, McKillip's great writing giving it a sense of dreaming, making one feel and hear and smell the sea as the story progressed. It's a short novel, and some things could have been more explained, more developed, but that was not the goal of the story and it told what needed to be told in the way it should be told -- almost like poetry in motion.

Lyrical, magical prose that aptly captures the ebb and flow of the ocean.
