Timeline, bibliography, and author's note at the end. Great that it includes quotes from her autobiography. I think the faces are all rendered weirdly even though the multimedia elements of the artwork is interesting and appropriate. Not the best text--the story has no real ending before leading into a full page of text about the later years of Keckly's life.

Fascinating biography of a slave whose skill kept the family who owned her alive, helped her buy freedom for herself and her son, and who rose in society by making dresses for prominent white women of the day.
Eye-catching collage illustrations of paper and fabric.

Did not love the illustrations, hut then the use of fabric and recreation of dresses won me over. Fascinating story

I found the story fascinating and loved how the illustrations incorporated stitching, collage, and other methods to bring out the life of Elizabeth Hobbs Keckly.
