I liked the way the author used different types of conversations, text transcripts, podcasts, news articles, etc. to make it seem like this television show Bachelor phenomena. And while the writing was pleasant, and it was a fun read, there was just a little too much self sabotage and self loathing pity party for me on Bea's behalf. I also couldn't see why her and Asher were so endgame. It didn't feel like their relationship was anything above and beyond what hers was with others.

2.5⭐️ I loved the overall concept of the book (especially since The Bachelor used to be a guilty pleasure). The different text structures —the blogs/texting convos/news articles— made it a fun, light read, but wasn’t a fan of the many stereotypes presented to depict some of the main characters.

If The Bachelor franchise is your guilty pleasure but you don’t love the show’s conservative undertones, this is absolutely the book for you!

This was a highly addictive romance that mimics both the onscreen and offscreen culture of The Bachelor, while adding some insight into dating as a plus-size woman. I enjoyed the nods to the fan culture of the show as well as the peaks behind the curtain of reality television. The story also offers a critique of reality shows that thrust people into the spotlight to appear inclusive, yet offer no additional support when those same people receive harassment.

What held this book back from being great to me were the missed opportunities. Earlier in the story, it seems like there might be some conflict with Bea’s family based on the information she is sharing onscreen, however it is never brought up. Further, I felt that Luc’s character entered Emily in Paris levels of stereotyping towards the end of the book. It would have been great to see these stereotypes subverted in some way.

Overall, this was a fun romance and the set up absolutely sucked me in. Looking forward to seeing what the author puts out next!

The first 111 pages I sped through like they were nothing, I LOVED it and I thought this book was on a great start to being a 4-5 star read. However it ended up falling flat for me, it drug on and I found myself loosing interest. I kept thinking she would end up with Sam, which didn’t happen but I didn’t see that plot twist coming.
But I wouldn’t go out of my way to read this again or own a physical copy of it.
