Dark, fictional imaginings of underhanded political mischief. Favorites include tales of intimate rendezvous with Condi, a comical parody of the rivalry between Hilary and Barack, and sexual favors that brought down Richard Nixon. Sometimes, noir-style writing grates on my nerves with all of its telling and not enough showing. There is a good mix in this batch of short stories. You can always skip the duds which is a bonus point on this compilation's scoreboard.

This was not a particularly good collection at all. It wasn't awful, but God was it below average. Each story felt like the small bland American setting (I know they were called different names, but names don't matter if the atmosphere stays stagnantly poor). Each character was unlikable (I get it! It's Politics Noir, but you can still have interesting and compelling characters!) and every female character seemed to be act like a cutthroat sex doll rather than a, y'know, person. I was not engaged, did not enjoy the content, endings, or arcs, and felt quite disappointed. I only made it about halfway through. I could have been reading better books.
