The first two thirds of the book is incredible. Nearly flawless execution. But maybe I've just read too many. I knew who was going to die and I knew what was fabricated. Additionally, Harry makes a move which is very risky and I felt out of character.

Fast intense page turner. Great nightstand read and a good replacement for watching crime series on Netflix before sleeping. Finished it in two sittings! Characters are sturdy, straight forward and uncomplicated. Story is palatable and has enough twists to keep you turning that page. This is the first Harry Bosch I read, although it's #12 in the series of books. It's outlined well enough that you don't feel you're missing out on 11 previous books.

If you like the Rogue hero cop and shady city (in this case LA), then it's worth your time!

Bosch sniffs out corruption in the LAPD as he tries to solve a 13-year old murder. Fast-paced but a slightly anticlimactic ending.

This story was really awesome! Too bad Rachel got all agro on him. And I wonder what happened with the person he accused of being in on it. Oh well. The real bad guy is dead. The bad detective boss is dead too.

Another terrific addition to the Bosch series, couldn't put it down, lots of twists and turns.

It has been too long since I read a Harry Bosch book. I missed it.

While this story was another great one, and was far better than the story told in the Bosch TV series, there were some times when I had to just roll over some items that are only possible in fiction. The beauty of this series is it is believable and very well researched, but I sure would have liked it better if a few things were nudged around so as not to cause such conflict with realities. If Connelly had just spread out the last chapters. Everything should not have been discovered in a single surveillance. Any bad guy who could put that conspiracy together would not have made such a horrible error later when they see a surveillance car on the street earlier. I was able to forgive it, I mean, bad guys make mistakes right?

In all, excellent book. I won't be away long. I have a couple other books to get to, then I will check back in with Harry Bosch.

Michael Connelly hasn’t missed a beat with his Harry Bosch series. Bosch’s unwillingness to accept things as they seem works both for and against him. He can’t get a break in his personal life but at least he gets the bad guys.
