Alister Hodge's contribution to this collection--involving Roman centurions in Carthage--is the clear standout both in terms of quality and creativity, but overall the collection is weak. At least two of the stories could be considered more vignettes than full plots, with no real resolution to any conflict except killing monsters. The entries are all pretty specifically military monster horror, but the cover art gets it right, there's a b-movie madness to the whole collection.
