This book was a great start to a new series. I love the trope of misfits all getting together with a common goal. I love how the main characters weren’t just teens but adults too. The banter between the main characters was enjoyable and funny at times. This is definitely a slow paced book I’m terms of most of this book was traveling on a quest and avoiding being caught. So don’t go into this thinking it’s going to be intense fighting all the time. I’m excited to continue the series! Beautiful map and the writing was great too!

With an itch for adventure in her blood, Coryane soon discovers why - she's the last of a magic-touched line. The knowledge brings an impossible quest and an unlikely, ragtag group from across the realm.

This book thrives with its world-building and character dynamics. The bickering between the group and their differing personalities is such a fun read. I also really enjoyed the villain's pov, which can be a hard thing to pull off. Unfortunately, the plot didn't seem to fill out the almost 600 pages and was sometimes a little hard to keep track of.

It's a great but slow start to a new series so I'm hopeful the next book will be more exciting!

Don’t let my three star review fool you, I enjoyed this book…after about half the book. It just took so long to finally grab me and then by the end I was fully into the story. I liked the band of misfits saving the world thing and the budding relationships intrigued me (even the baddies). I will be reading the next one when it comes out because I’m hoping all of the establishing exposition is out of the way now and we get straight into the action.

4.5/5, interesting array of characters with some good twists/turns. A little bit too much lords of the ring-ish copying, but it is still holds it’s own and has a different story. Excited for the next book!

This book was mostly world building, hopefully the next one contains some more action and plot twists
