I read this book as part of a challenge I joined.

Larry is a Dodo Bird who thinks that he can only be friends with another Dodo Bird. Through the course of the story, many animals come to help him try to find another Dodo, but they are unsuccessful. The lesson learned in this story is that you don't have to be exactly the same to be friends.

Like the rest of the series, this book would be great for early elementary kids.

Larry the Lonely is an adorable children's book with a great moral at the end. Larry, a Dodo bird, believes he'll always be lonely because he can't find anyone exactly like him. As the story goes on, Larry meets others who are nothing like him. He thinks he can't be friends with them because of this, but by the end, he realizes that being different is a-ok. He also makes a bunch of new friends who like him just the way he is.

I have two kids of my own, a 9 year old and a 3 month old, and this is something I would definitely read to my 3 month old. My nine year old is more into things like I Survived and Goosebumps. But it's definitely a book someone of that age could easily read and understand. Plus, letting kids know it's ok to be friends with different people is a great message to send at that age.
