Poor Sara? Happy Sara? I like this one a lot.

This was satisfying. After more than a few wimpy endeavours collected in Amphigorey Too, we finally get a story with delineated characters and situations and conclusion. Hurrah! It's the tale of a little girl, two birds, and a large cat, and it's short and satisfying.

(Note: I'm a writer, so I suffer when I offer fewer than five stars. But these aren't ratings of quality, they're a subjective account of how much I liked the book: 5* = an unalloyed pleasure from start to finish, 4* = enjoyed it, 3* = readable but not thrilling, 2* = disappointing, and 1* = hated it.)

Ooh, this is rather delightfully devilish. It’s the story of sweet sara and how she befriends animals. We do see her die in the end. She befriends some birds and they play together all day long. It’s a jolly day and then when it is time for bed, the girl has a nasty thought and she finds a way to trap the birds. The rest of the story is very amusing. You can feel the end coming.

It is a rather short story, but it does have plenty of dialogue for a Gorey story. You see both sides of the girl. I can see Edward having such gleeful fun with this story. I had fun reading it anyway. Nice artwork, of course. I expect nothing less.
