A really good summary of the last 100 years in Palestine. Informs the reader on why things are the way they are now.

A very densely written book that is nevertheless very important and manages to address many different aspects of the ongoing Israel/Palestine conflict. This really is a beat by beat explanation of how the conflict came to where it is now, how Palestine has constantly been ignored and and attacked not only by the Israeli government, but by almost all big countries here in the West. This isn't a conflict that started a few years ago. This has been undoing for more than 100 years, and this book doesn't pull any punches in telling you which exact atrocities have been committed when and where.

Honestly, the only bigger problem I have with this book has more to do with the writing style than the actual content itself. The writing is very dense and full of dates, important names, places, and several academic references. You really have to take your time to understand everything you're reading, and even then, it sometimes takes a while to fully understand what the author just described to you. Perhaps it would help to already have some preexisting knowledge of some basic facts surrounding Palestine's history.

This is an important book, now more so than when it was first published. As someone who had almost next to no knowledge about Palestine and its history in regards to Israel and Zionism, I was a little overwhelmed by all the facts that are given in this book, but I'm glad to finally have a better understanding of the issue. If you're interested in learning more about the history of Palestine and its politics, then you should give this book a read.
