It's time to learn about Mrs. MacDonald who loves vowels! She always gets to work when she sees an A, E, I, O, U, and Y. It's a bit crazy on the farm, but the chores get done with some hard work and crazy inventions.

Farming books are always popular. A new own is always exciting to see, whether the storyline shares a new concept or refrshes an old one. A Mrs. MacDonald sounds very interesting and her e-i-e-i-o was a-e-i-o-u. That was a neat new concept to read. After the refrain, the farmer's work turned a bit wacky. Each vowel she founded highlighted work that focused around that particular vowel. Clever concept, but not the strongest execution. The list of chores feels more like a tongue twisters put together. If a teacher or reading specialist was focusing on vowels and wanted a story, I would recommend this title. If a reader was looking for a farm tale, I would suggest other material.

Many have tried to redo or out do the original Old MacDonald, and for the first time ever I think I have found the book that can go head to head. This is a vowel book. The pictures looked kind of kooky at first but they go right with the words. What I love about this book is that granny is into “A E I O U and when she came across and e this is what she’d do:”. This would be followed by actions that glorify that vowel. Admittedly I couldn’t sing it to come out like Old Macdonald for the life of me, but I did love the tongue twister action of just trying to say what granny was going.

Talk about a tongue twister! Old MacDonald had *her* farm and this book tells you about it using the vowels A E I O U and sometimes Y.
