The Chicken Sisters by K.J. Dell'Antonia

I really wanted to like this book. Small town rivalry and the cooking show setting were a good framework. Unfortunately, all of the characters were exceedingly unlikeable. I couldn’t even root for them, they were immature, unkind and constantly whining. I’m all about a flawed MC(‘s)—let’s face it we all have our challenges and have made stupid and/or avoidant choices and even been jerks in our lives. But yikes, these characters didn’t have one iota of self awareness, humility or even a desire to grow. This is marketed as a light and fun read and it was not at all funny or engaging.  I wanted the characters to just shut up, already. DNF halfway through.

A great rival story with a fun premise. This was a light and fun read.

This was a fun read to start the year. It’s like if a cooking competition show, Hoarders, and The Home Edit was spun into a story about two sisters.

Food Network - Hoarders - Jerry Springer - all rolled into one !!! A long standing family feud, a fried chicken recipe, 2 restaurants, a big fight on national tv - can it bring the family together?

I really wanted to like this book but I found it slow and the story line of the family confusing and hard to follow at times. I ended up finishing it because I wanted to know who won Food Wars.
