The Farmer and the Clown is about a baby clown who accidentally gets separated from his family. Thankfully, the baby clown is left on a farmer's land. The farmer seems reluctant to keep the baby clown, but eventually they bond. Over the course of the time, the two learn new things about each other and themselves. When the farmer and the clown go out to have a picnic, they see that the train is coming back for the baby clown. The baby clown is then reunited with his family, but not before giving the farmer a big hug and his hat. This would be a book that I would offer in my library, but not one I would read-aloud. Even though there are not many words, it is easy to understand, but it would be best as an independent reading experience.

enjoyed this books illustrations although I have to say that clowns have a vaguely disturbing connections for me so it was hard to not feel that it would turn into a horror story.
Faris seemed to like the story thought

This was a sweet wordless picture book about a farmer and his unexpected visitor. I didn't expect such a cute story, but the plot definitely lived up to the cover.

This one is a master work in the "wordless picture book" category. A young clown, only a toddler, really, falls off of the circus train in the vast, flat prairie and is taken in and cared for by a glum, lanky farmer. As the farmer begins to try and cheer the boy, his frown and furrowed brow transform and turn to smiles.

I cried a bit, at the end of this. Maybe it's just that I'm the mother of a preschooler, but all I could think was that if my child were ever lost, wouldn't this be what I wanted for him? For a kind stranger to gently care for him until I could return?

Loved this book about a young kid dressed as clown who falls from a circus train and ends up getting rescued by some farmer. There is no text and the story is told in just pictures. The illustrations are cute.

This is a wordless picture book. This should be read with the other two, The Farmer and the Monkey, and The Farmer and the Circus.

This book is a story told with only pictures about a small circus clown who falls off the train and is waiting for his family to return while a nearby farmer takes care of him. The pictures clearly convey the personalities of each character and the ending is heart warming. You can order this book at the Colona Public Library! ~Ashley

This book.  Is.  So.  Cute.  I've spent so long trying to figure out why picturebooks have the ability to just make me melt into a puddle and weep.  And, moreso, how can a book with no words can do that?  Well, this one does it, folks.  And it's because it's so pure and wholesome and just GOOD.  The storyline, the colors, EVERYTHING.  Which, by the way--the colors.  I just love how the palettes of the two characters--muted, earthy tones for the farmer and bright, fun tones for the clown--come into play with each other and create a connection between the two characters as the story progresses.

Basically, I love this book, and I will probably be emotional about it for a very long time.
