I wish I loved this as much as the Alderwood series.

I was really interested in this book when I first read the synopsis. People than can read minds, manipulate the elemants, and talk to animals? I want!

Lark has the Reader spark. Before he went to Myxini, he had no idea what a spark was and that there were more like him out there. I liked Lark. He's sweet, caring and really protective of Khea and of those closest to him. I loved seeing him grow up through the years and learn more and more about his spark, and how to use it. I liked Khea, but wish I had more time with her to get to know her and connect with her a little more. I loved seeing her go from this scared little girl to a strong young woman. I also liked Mathias as well as Avis, even though I didn't like him at first but he grew on me by the end.

The plot was interesting, but at times I found myself getting a little bored (mostly when the political stuff came into play). I liked learning about all the little islands in the world that R.S. McCoy created and about the people in them.

Overall, I liked this book. I liked learning about their world and the different sparks. I recommend it to anyone looking for a different kind of book.
