I learned more from this book than I've read in any article relating to this emerging health discovery. Many questions were answered. Unfortunately not all my questions.

This book explained a lot about gut health and the human microbiota. While I am not a very sciencey inclined gal I’m glad I read this. It reaffirmed a lot of stuff my mom always says about “good bacteria” and how antibiotics should be limited etc . In terms of a gut healthy diet, the book advocates for a high-fiber, plant based diet and suggests to limit processed foods. It also touched on the developing microbiota of children, the deteriorating microbiota of elders and fecal transplant.

This is not meant for the common people who have studied Biology last time in school. The images in the book is black and white. In fact, when the authors described about how good goes into the GI tract there was no image. And bombarding of biological terms that you have to look up on the Internet. I am clueless about the requirements of being a reader of this book.

It seems all books regarding the gut biome were written in 2015. What's happened in the last eight years one must wonder. Overall, an informative book and quite accessible.
