What a great book, not only wonderfully written but also visually engaging. Oskar was such an innocent narrator, and the perspectives of his grandparents were equally intriguing. I will be recommending this to as many people as I can.

2.5 ⭐️ - Ultimately a story about grief, and as someone who has resonated with grief themes lately, I’m surprised I didn’t like this more. I think the quirkiness of how the book was written often distracted me, and being 2 decades and half a country away from 9/11 made it hard to remember the weight of the event. Beautiful ending though!

This story spans multiple generations and follows multiple storylines. The main plotline follows Oskar, a child I believe 9years old, who misses his father and finds a key and goes in search of the owner of this key, believing it will lead him to learning more about his father. The rest of the book is told in the writing of letters from other characters in the story. As the plot unfolds we learn more about other characters and how they play a part in Oskar's and his father's story. The writing is really powerful, it brings forth feelings as Oskar deals with grief and the unknown in his own way. This book shows readers the importance of life and sharing your feelings with others. Telling people you love them and how small moments matter. I don't want to spoil the plot, but I liked the book and am excited to discuss with my book club.
