The storyline is a little scattered, but a great book to use when learning and talking about animals and how they build homes and families.

Very attractive illustrations and cute animal pictures will surely interest some kids. I enjoyed the various homes and materials and the general presentation of information, but it was not particularly original and the cadence lends itself to more of a bedtime read, than a larger group share.

What a beautiful picture book, showcasing the various types of habitats built by different forest creatures. In poetic text, we learn about the various types of homes that are built and when watch as each animal waits for the arrival of their babies. The illustrations allow the reader to see underground, into a bee’s hive, into nests, etc. as each home withstands a variety of weather/seasons. The artwork in this book was done in mixed media, including acrylic, colored pencil, and collage on paper.

Read this to my great-niece and I enjoyed how the words flowed and rhyme with the poetic text. They were also different enough to make my mouth move differently and present her with new words and sounds.
