POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT
I loved this book! I love b class horror and this is very b class, all the way from the actual story to the writing. It was one of those books that I wished I could have read it one sitting, however life got in the way and I had to put it down for a bit. And that made me sad. First, I'll recap the story. Then I'll go into detail about the writing. (Very simple, single sentence writing)
The actual story, if it were a movie, would be one of those horror movies that you couldn't help but to laugh and watch. The book was kinda cut up in 2 parts, and the first part was way better than the second part. It starts out with a farmer who owes a bad guy money. The bad guy makes the farmer choose which one of his workers or family members he kills. SPOILERS START HERE...........
Spoiler. And he does it. Like I said, he's a bad guy. So the farmer needs money. He starts injecting his livestock with some home brewed street drugs to buff them up, so he can make more money off of them. However, the bull goes crazy and starts killing people. I don't wanna give away any spoilers... But I will say there's a really bloody scene where the farmer is liquid-fying his live stock. I loved that part. Long story short, he throws the remains in the ocean.
Then the second part starts. It wasn't as interesting as the beginning, but a 20 foot prawn (mutated from what the farmer threw in the water) starts killing people in the water near a beach.
Now the writing. It's very b class. It's not your typical writing style. There are barely any paragraphs, and it's mostly chopped up into single sentences, double spaced.
Alot of people will disagree with my 5 star rating, but it worked for me. I will just say that it's a simplistic style of writing. And I enjoy light reads from time to time.
Between the first part of the book, the gore, and the enjoyment I got from this book makes it a solid 5 star book (to me).
