There's a lot of powerful messages within this book and a lot of horrific stories. Ford's warning at the front of explicit content should not be taken lightly.  At times of reading, I found myself angered by what I read and the way the system tends to be against the accuser, particularly in sexual assault cases. The language Ford uses towards particular men can be quite harsh and makes me wonder how narrow the intended audience is. In saying that, she also acknowledges a lot of arguments that people will bring up in defence of patriaty.

This book covers various aspects of misogyny and rape culture and the ways that boys are largely taught to become at best passive or at worst violent men. I recommend all men and teenage boys to read it. For women, it may be a lot that you already know but just in great, grim detail, depending on how much feminist writing you've read already. Although I vaguely knew or at least wasn't surprised by most of the content, it provided me with some new ways of conceptualising the issues, which might help me when having discussions about these topics in future.
