This is a book everyone needs to read at least once in their lifetime.

It's very inspiring to see how Clem talks about her son and the hope she has for future generations to break the chain of patriarchy. Every argument is well-reasoned and backed by good data, and you can tell how much heart and soul went into finding this and collecting it into a presentable format. I find that some of the arguments she makes are really good counters to the things men say on a day-to-day basis (like "not all men").I applaud Clem for speaking out for the countless of women who cannot.

I gave it a 3/5 stars though because it's primarily one-sided and opinionated. I think if a man's perspective (like, for instance an account) would be given on the impacts of misogyny and analysed in greater depth it would make it more convincing? Yet there still is quotes, but they are primarily from misogynistic men. There seems to be a lack of representation from feminist men who support the movement - they are only briefly mentioned.

This book covers various aspects of misogyny and rape culture and the ways that boys are largely taught to become at best passive or at worst violent men. I recommend all men and teenage boys to read it. For women, it may be a lot that you already know but just in great, grim detail, depending on how much feminist writing you've read already. Although I vaguely knew or at least wasn't surprised by most of the content, it provided me with some new ways of conceptualising the issues, which might help me when having discussions about these topics in future.
