I found this book at a thrift store more than thirty years ago for a buck. Probably my most well spent dollar ever. I just reread it again. I've put it down and picked it up multiple times over the years. It is definitely not an easy read. I think as I've gotten older and my own views of reality have shifted, I can comprehend things in it somewhat better. Personally I think it is one of the best books ever written in this genre by far. Since that time of picking this up in the thrift store I have read all of Jane Roberts books on the entity she channeled known as "Seth". I believe I enjoy coming back to this one the most. If you want to bend your mind and stretch it beyond normal comfort then I would definitely recommend it.

Reading this book has put me at ease about what happens when I eventually leave this physical human body.

Per the subtitle, our souls are ageless and timeless and formless.

Seth's ideas represent a "complete repeal and overhaul" of common, religious, and scientific thought.

Start here.

I came to this book on a recommendation from Jim Henson.

It was very very difficult to get through. Amazingly boring for such an interesting topic. Any “flow“ possible in the information is broken up by inane notes about the channeling.

I really had a high hopes for this, as I hold Henson in higher regard. This feels like a disconnection in cultural times, he was alive and creative during the time that the Seth Speaks material was fresh.

Now it sounds like a group of people were trying to make something sound magical and mystical, but there were enough shortsighted bits, things that stuck to hard too that decade, to make me believe, really believe. Why so much focus on Christian beliefs? Why so many suggestions that the followers of Abraham are too violent? This sounded like Jane/Seth was trying to make sure they didn’t offend the largest target audience, modern (1970s) Christian hippies in the US.

I am sure there are many things, from this book, that when used with compassion in the world, are useful bits of information. That said, I don’t think we need a multi dimensional being to tell us these things. And so much of the time, Seth/Jane just continue to tell us “I will talk more about that later in the book“, and I never felt the resolutions.

I was proud of myself for making it through the whole book, and then noticed that the appendix was huge. I gave up.

I had to give up with this. If Seth is such an enlightened being why does it take him forever to get to the point? Why is he not smooth and articulate instead of speaking in verbose gobbledygook? Awful.

Didn't fully finish it bcos it got so intense that I started to wonder whether I wrote the book myself (and so did you, because we're all the same)

A lot to think about so it's shelved for now - returned to friend - and perhaps will return to it when I need / am ready for more answers

absolutely life-changing. i am eternally grateful for "randomly" coming across this one. seth has confirmed what i've always known, somewhere deep within. we are all energy, currently experiencing life in human form, to learn. we are here to learn. to grow. to expand our eternal consciousness. 'the eternal validity of the soul' makes such an incredible amount of sense, even scientifically, that it's almost insane that this isn't the standard for teaching what the meaning of life truly is. we are all from the same energy source - learning to be our own gods. we are eternal beings with infinite possibilities. when you know this, you can finally be free of all mental restraints.

also: this book led me to learning about astral projection, which we all have the ability to do (much of what seth says relates to what many have experienced in the astral realms). science is getting closer and closer to discovering the true nature and mobility of our consciousness, which is extremely exciting.

5/5. The number one book i'd recommend to curious, open minds. forget everything you were ever taught, rid yourself of any social constructs, and read this book at a pace you feel comfortable with. (then, let's talk. i'd love to discuss.) you will be changed in the purest of ways.
