A good addition to library shelves. It is very like other adventure/ mystery/touch of fantasy series like H.I.V.E., The Joshua Files, Sophie Mackenzie et al. But enjoyable for all that and a series you will want to stock.

It was a very interesting book. I liked it and it wasn't complicated like his dragon series.

When I first read the blurb on the back of this book I almost didn't read it. Using a Unicorn as a secret espionage agency seem far fetched to say the least. However, the story was an amusing blend of familial life, burgeoning mental powers, ghosts, and hidden surprises. Michael Malone is a teen struggling with the loss of his father and a physical condition he doesn't quite understand. His ability to manipulate time becomes apparent when he stops a dog from jumping off a cliff. This is a great read for teens and tweens who are fans of the marvel or DC universe.

This book starts out solidly in the youth/paranormal realm, a trope established well before Harry Potter: a young boy suddenly discovers he has magical or supernatural powers. Adults start meddling, with mixed signals about who's trying to help and who's trying to harm.

Then it wanders off into thriller/suspense, with paranoid conspiracy theories.

Then there's a random psuedo-romantic interlude, a little dash or horror, and by then i had no idea what was happening anymore.

This book had an oddly incomplete feeling, like the author needed to come through and tighten everything up so the connections made sense, but somehow didn't get around to it. The kid's abilities were very interesting, but underexplored and the consequences underexplained.

At this point, i'm not sure if i'd read the next book in the series.
