The connection between the two MCs was off for me. I'm usually living the same emotions as the characters in a Lauren Dane book, but I didn't feel any chemistry or connection between the MCs in this one.

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest review.

Sigh, I had such high hopes going into this book. Especially when the author went on to describe Gregori. But I will get into that later. I am not exactly sure where this book lost it but it really did lose it for me. To me it just started out with such promise but ehh nope. Now Wren I liked her at first and I did like things about her. I liked how she knew what she wanted and didn't let anything stop her from getting it. But sometimes she just seemed one sided. That was pretty much all the personality you got from her. Like the book said, she was a bulldog and that was really all you ever got from her. I mean come on, I just wanted a little more from her. It was really only like you got to see the real her when she was with Gregori. Now hmmm Gregori. Let me tell you the way the author introduced him was quite unforgettable. This man, is pretty much my dream man. Tattoos, a mohawk, muscles, a foreign accent and he is an artist. Yeppers, I am changing my last name as we speak. But that was really where it stopped. He gave off little hints of him having alpha in him, but the attempts at it kind of fell flat for me. Ahhh and the story, yep it bored me. I liked the sex and some of the discussions and the actions between them. But the story seemed to rushed and it was just missing the "more" that made it a believable story, stuff was just to tidy and easily fixed for me. So overall ok characters, hot sex and a huh story. Yep, that;s about it.

Wren is an art student and works part time for a delivery service. For over a year she has delivered packages to Gregori Ivanov on a weekly basis. Gregori is a moody but passionate artist who enjoys his bad reputation. These two form a friendship through shared interests and chemistry. At one of Gregori's gallery shows, their friendship turns into more when he kisses her. One kiss is all it took to spark a wildfire of lust and sex that starts to burn out of control. When Gregori realizes he has developed deeper feelings for Wren, he freaks, thank's to a disastrous marriage and a crazy ex-wife. Can Gregori get over his past and open himself up to a new opportunity to be happy with a woman? This was my first Lauren Dane book and overall i did enjoy it even though I'm not a huge fan of the length of novellas. I did enjoy both of the characters. Wren was sweet and easy to like while Gregori being a bit more temperamental still got caught on my "hottie" meter. There is plenty of hot sex when these two give in to their desires. I would have enjoyed seeing a bit more of the couple's lives at the end. This was a super quick, fun and easy read.

I really love Lauren Dane's erotic contemporaries. I've followed the Brown Siblings for two years now and am eagerly awaiting book six. When I saw this one popping up on NetGalley I snatched it up. The premise was intriguing and the cover was hot!

Wren, a messenger/graphic artist is totally hung up on a sexy sculptor named Gregori. Gregori is at the top of his game artistically and has made it in the industry. The only thing holding him back is his failed marriage and his unwillingness to commit to a woman. As Wren and Gregori grow closer and closer, they have to decide if a relationship is something they can handle. Can Gregori let go of his failed marriage and can Wren make him see she's the woman for him?

I really loved both characters. Gregori was the perfect combo of sexy-hot artist and brooding rich guy. He owned who he was and didn't apologize but was secretly miserable. At the same time Wren was an interesting woman who wanted to make it on her own but knew what she wanted. She wanted Gregori and she wasn't about to hold back.

The sex scenes were scorchers and the moments Gregori and Wren spent together were equally spicy-hot and adorable. I loved how they were in their non-sexual romantic moments. Wren fought for Gregori with everything she had. She wanted him, she owned it, and she made it happen. She wasn't about to let her slice of cake vanish.

My only hang-up was over Gregori contributing nothing to the actual love story. He screwed up, he didn't grovel. He made the mistake and he got the girl. Wren was the one who made everything happen. While I like to see things flipped on their head it was disappointing when Gregori was the one who screwed up. I really hate it when the person who didn't screw up does all the work.

This was not the flagship for the line of Cosmo Red Hot Reads but it certainly was red hot. I really
wish it had been longer since I really liked Gregori and Wren. I often fall in love with the characters in novellas and then it ends so quickly.

This was worth the free read but I would wait for a sale before picking it up. 1.99 seems like a sweet spot for these books.

Slightly disappointing for me. Dane has been writing some very decent books lately (Brown siblings) and this just plain fell flat.

Another great from Lauren Dane

I haven’t found a book I don’t like from Lauren Dane, and this was no exception. I gotta say though that Wren is probably in my top ten most AWESOME heroines of all time! That girl has sass for dayyyyys and gets what she wants once she’s set her mind to it! And the sarcasm ... me likey!!! Don’t get me started on the yumminess named Gregori either!! Yummmmayyyy!! Tattoos, check. Accent, check. Talent, check. And this list just keeps going!
I’m excited that there’s a sequel for these two bc I gotta KNOW!! What happens next?!?!
