I was super hesitant to start this because I didn't really vibe with the Twisted series (sorry!) but one of my friends *loves* Ana Huang so I decided to give her another chance.

This was slow at first and I wasn't really invested but once their relationship got more real, I was all in. Grumpy hero who's only soft for the heroine 🥹 it just never gets old.

The break-in aftermath 😭😭😭 that's when I was sold not only on this book but on Dante!!!! what a man. what a rude bitch but also what a man. truly. have i told you that anthony bridgerton is my favourite bridgerton.

I was soo scared of the third-act drama but Dante's groveling was *chef's kiss* They somehow just got cuter after their drama 🥰

Excited to read book 2 but especially excited for Dominic and his wife's story!

This book was devourable! I literally had to force myself to stop reading to study for my upcoming test and get my teacher's notes down for the incoming sub! Lord the heat and chemistry between Dante and Vivian melted my bones until they were liquid. The friction and intensity that the story has built the momentum you open the book! Vivian Lau may come from new money, but she isn't someone who is dependent on her family to make it in the world! However, sometimes family does have an impact on how she does things, and is that always for her benefit or theirs? How does Dante Russo fit into her picture, was he in her picture of the future prior? Dante is an Italian businessman who doesn't take no for an answer and demands perfection everywhere he goes, plus the most eligible bachelor of the Manhattan Social Elite! When Vivian enters his circle, life will never be the same for Mr. Russo  The author definitely created conflict in the story that can be relatable for Nouveau Money vs Old Money, but also what scenarios could be like for Asian, or ethnic, populations in general, to have success in the Elite world. It was a subtle conflict of the story, but one that the reader can't help but think about! Either way, the story is a MUST READ NOW and you won't be able to release it until you are on the final page!

King of Wrath- 2.5⭐️3.5🌶️

She’s the wife he never wanted . . . and the weakness he never saw coming.

Ruthless. Meticulous. Arrogant. Dante Russo thrives on control, both personally and professionally.

The billionaire CEO never planned to marry – until the threat of blackmail forces him into an engagement with a woman he barely knows: Vivian Lau, jewellery heiress and daughter of his newest enemy. It doesn’t matter how beautiful or charming she is. He’ll do everything in his power to destroy the evidence and their betrothal.

There’s only one problem: now that he has her . . . he can’t bring himself to let her go.
***
Elegant. Ambitious. Well-mannered. Vivian Lau is the perfect daughter and her family’s ticket into the highest echelons of high society.

Marrying a blue-blooded Russo means opening doors that would otherwise remain closed to her new-money family. While the rude, elusive Dante isn’t her idea of a dream partner, she agrees to their arranged marriage out of duty. Craving his touch was never part of the plan.

Neither was the worst thing she could possibly do: fall in love with her future husband.

✨My Opinion✨

This is a Bloom Books publication release. I have not read any of the Kings of Sin or  Twisted series.

Dual POV
Arranged marriage
Forced proximity
fake fiancé
dislike to lovers
billionaire romance
Miscommunication

It was a little too heavy on the grumpy with the grumpy/sunshine for me. But it was a fun read. Not the most amazing, but not absolutely terrible.

The MMC has a decent backstory, but didn’t see it played out quite as well as it could have been. I never quite understood what he did for a living or how it was important or how it gave him access to beat people in police holding cells…

The FMC was a little lacking in much other than family loyalty and her friends. She lacked the sparkle that explained how she brought the MMC out of his shell other than proximity…

There were a few moments of good tension. Things were great in the beginning… but it tapered off and didn’t retain its intensity through each relationship development.

*Thank you Bloom Books and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Updated rankings... (changed my mind on a few things.

1. Bridget/Rhys
2. Jules/Josh
3. Alex/Ava
4. Vivian/Dante
5. Stella/Christian

Vivian and Dante seemed really similar to Ava/Alex, with family betrayl and what not. Still liked their banter, which is why their better than Stella/Christian. But the spicy scenes were a little stale, hence 4th place. Funny, loved Vivian's sass. Can't wait for Isabella/Kai.
