I wanted to love this, especially after enjoying the first novella in this collection, but the rest if it was truly a slog, unfortunately. I couldn't connect with the writing and I struggled to pick it back up, but kept doing so hoping I would find something of the first story in the other two.

For me, this didn't deliver on the initial promise, but I recognise that I perhaps expected too much horror in this collection, given the front cover and blurb, and my own differing expectations to the intent are not the fault of the book itself. Also, I know that I often struggle to connect to work in vignettes, and as this book is categorised by the author as a novel in three parts, this may have factored into my reading experience and reception of the work, which is - again - an element of personal taste.
