very good. you could practically feel a relationship coming on between claire and shane. Monica Morell is a wtich with a b. I am remember how much i hate her. and make sure that you have the next book on hand, because the ending is a killer.

Ever since Twilight I have had a strong disliking for vampire stories but I am very glad I read this one anyway. I read this almost in one sitting and also developed a fictional character crush on Shane. I recommend this to everyone, especially those that would like to read a vampire novel that isn't trying to be Twilight.

i think this book had a lot of potential, and it isn't awful at all. it's just a product of it's time.
the emo kids, the 'not like the other girls' MC, the evil bitchy popular girl.
a lot of this book involved me just wondering "why doesn't our main character just call her parents and leave town?" considering she's described as super smart.
however, it was pretty easy to read.

Now I can't tell if this is a YA that actually holds up from when I read it as a teen or if I have nostalgia glasses or something, but I enjoyed it again and am interested in the plot of a whole town belonging to vampires, etc. I also appreciate that Michael, Shane, and Eve were aware of her age and made it a point to continue to remind her of that and wouldn't just let her move in willy nilly and such.

This was a re-read from my high school days and boy, this did not disappoint! Among the cringy pick me girl thoughts that Claire couldn’t keep to herself were nuggets of pure giggling delights. This fast paced easy read really sunk its fangs into me and didn’t let go.

This is my twilight and I won’t accept anything else.

Look. Low level teenage writing (as per target audience) but it’s fast paced and interesting!

In my reread of my teenage books loads better than HoN plot wise, however I don’t really like Claire or Shane and I need to like the main character and romance which must be why it was never my fave. The logistics and existence of vampires isn’t as believable as other worlds (no mention of magic so how come this town run by vampires isn’t found?). But it’s fun, shame Claire is a nerd and Shane is a slob!

It started off quite nice and interesting, I was actually looking forward to the rest... but soon it stopped. Claire apparently has a death wish (because hey there are bullies, just go to them and wave aka go to class while there are people who want to kill you *rolls eyes*), and is also quite negative about herself. Being smart is not bad, girl, really it isn't.

Also a town run by vampires... and 2% or so of the college kids just disappear and no one apparently cares that it happens every year? Wow.. those kids must be hated or have no friends/parents/people who care about them.
