Didn't expect the conclusion of the case for this one. Though I did anticipate Salvo's personal story going the way it did. The old woman Clementina is a nice side characters addition to the usuals.

It was nice to revisit this one again, it was an excellent read and these early Montalbano books are better than I remembered. Thoroughly enjoyed this one, and enough time has passed that it was still fresh and I forgot the ending. Bumped up from 4* to 5*

Original Review
This one flew by, a very interesting and enjoyable case. I will say it each review but I am really enjoying this series, the setting, plot and characters is very good.

There was enough going on to keep the pace plodding along nicely. The ending was great too, I am very curious to see where the series goes for Montalbano, Livia and Francois.

Not as strong as the prior couple of books in the series: this was actually the first of the Montalbano books which I’d guessed the identity of the killer.
