Sol a Sol is featured in [b:Strategies That Work: Teaching Comprehension for Understanding and Engagement|831407|Strategies That Work Teaching Comprehension for Understanding and Engagement|Stephanie Harvey|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1328855592s/831407.jpg|817060], which is one of my texts for literacy this semester, and I had to adapt the lesson they had for this book into one for my group. After reading several of the everday poems (written in both English and Spanish--a perfect ELL resource!), we made a poem together and then they wrote their own, plus drew an illustration. It was asking a lot of first graders to accomplish in 25 minutes, but they were fantastic, as usual.
