Another awesome book from Dani. Mikey is the sweetest. And I wanted to just hug him. And since I’m terrible with reviews, here’s yet another bad review of a good book. He plays hockey and she lives next door with her craptastic boyfriend. Mikey has a party, it’s loud, she’s mad and goes to yell at him. Then stuff happens and I hate the boyfriend and love Mikey and he wants to be her friend and he’s just so sweet. Seriously a great book.

for me

I wanted to like this book at least average but no. The beginning was good and it went downhill until the last chapter for me. The middle lagged so hard. The 3rd act was just too much for me. The epilogue was cute but overall the book was not good to me. Overall eh. 2/5

I binged this fast paced hockey drama. From Jessie’s barging into Mickeys apartment to the ending that brought my heart and feet kicking in excitement. This story has its ups and downs and beautiful character growth but really this story hits to the core of love in all facets of life. It was a beautiful read!

Ben “Mikey” Miknevicius is a star hockey player who has it all. When his next door neighbor Jessie storms in his apartment one night to tell him to keep it down he is immediately intrigued. When he overhears something about her life he begins to meddle and all the sudden Jessie needs a place to live and she finds herself rooming with Ben…

This is such a cute book!! I loved Ben and Jessie’s story! He was a complete meddler in the best way. He was so sweet and caring even when he didn’t know how to handle different situations. They both had some past trauma and I liked how they slowly began to trust each other.

I love how they both were so supportive of each other and fell into fake dating. Mistakes are definitely made and there is some groveling but there is some character growth too!

I really liked their banter and they had me laughing out loud. The prank he pulls on Cole is epic!

I really loved the side characters too! Kitty is such a great friend to Jessie. There is mental health/chronic illness representation in this book and I thought the author did a good job incorporating it into the story in a very organic way.

As someone who spent time in WV I loved some of the Easter eggs and references, especially to my favorite biscuit shop!!
