The kind of novel I love to read, the kind of novel I’d want to write. Prose is beautiful and elegant, but clear and never overwritten. Its scope is impressive, both in timeless themes and contemporary issues. CRISPR. Wealth gap. White privilege. Cross-racial relationships. Fate vs choice. generational trauma.
