I'd give this a 4-star rating for children, and a 2 star rating for adults, so I'm giving it 3. Ratings are dumb. My daughter loved this, but I found that while I enjoyed the illustrations, I found the humor pretty bland and the story unsatisfying. The big plot points don't feel particularly earned, and the world isn't well thought out. The characters are fine, but the book is very short, and there isn't much time for characterization. Grab it for your kid from the library, and don't bother if you are an adult.

I really liked this, but I feel like I didn't get it. My grown-up brain was unable to suspend disbelief. There were too many illogical, confusing things about this world.
SpoilerWhy doesn't that final bubble kill Strata? How does Kleidi still work when she's been broken into three pieces? How is it so easy to kill pipers and at the same time they've almost completely wiped out human civilization? Where did Kleidi come from? Will it be explained in sequels?

Still, very fun to read and I'm sure less critical readers will just enjoy it and not demand that the world make more sense.

Sci-fi from Nathan Hale? Such Fun! The landscapes are really fantastic & the aliens are interestingly unique. It's a bit short for my tastes & none of the characters get enough screen time to be Really interesting, but it is a solid little sci-fi story.
Spoiler I was grumpy that we never find out anything about Kleidi, she's an interesting plot device, but it feels like she could have been so much more maybe there'll be a prequel or something

I really liked this! I did start it and stop once but that has more to do with what was going on with me than the comic. It drops us in the middle of the kids searching for tech. There's no info dumping so if you're not used to rolling with new worlds and rules in SFF, then it might be hard to get into.

The kids are funny, banter like actual kids, and think likewise.
The adults are responsible, and caring.
Alpacas!
The feral girl was my second fav after the pony girl. (sorry forgot names & on tablet)
I certainly wasn't expecting what was behind the pipers and how the day was saved.
I love the dedication to his grandpa, who first told him the story.
Love the art style and tone.

After finishing, I did go check out Hale's other work. I'm not so big on history though. I'll keep an eye out if he ever does something like One Trick Pony again and pick it up.

This was great!

Awesome art and characters. The story had some weak links, (the overall premise lost it 1 star for me), but I'd have read this straight through if I hadn't started it on a lark before work (for some unknown reason).

Definitely worth a read.

I'm not a fan of graphic novels. I did like the characters but everything happens so fast and the story doesn't get to fully develop in the graphic novels I've read. I l appreciate the adventurous female lead character.
