Interesting read on the life of one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. While he was an artist in every sense of the word, at the end of the day he was just a man like anyone else. I recommend this to anyone who loves Kubrick's work.

Experiencing the life, the work, and the genius of Stanley Kubrick from someone who didn't care about fame--or the film industry--adds another (softer) layer to this complicated man. Any Kubrick fan would dread reading the completion of each project because they are all countdowns to his untimely death, and that is something that this book does really well.

It was ok. Very repetitive. I don't think I know much more about Stanley Kubrick now than I did when I started. Should have read a regular biography, then this for foundation then for context.

Anyway, it's not bad for what it is. I just don't think I like memoirs. I think I liked this more than Greenlights.

Lots of stories spanning 30 years. Some famous actors and actresses in here.

Nothing salacious in this book at all. No action or adventure. I don't understand Stanley's drives or motivations really.
