I was loving it and then it kind of petered off disappointingly.

I was intrigued by the synopsis, but unfortunately the book just didn't do it for me. I struggled to get through the chapters. The pace was very slow, the writing repetitive and the big mystery/twist was obvious from the beginning.

I was so disappointed in this book. I hate that I had to add it to the DNF list. I lost interest due to the humdrum filler chapters and had to force myself to read to the halfway point. I really wanted this book to work

This book was difficult to continue reading. I figured out the “secrets” almost from the beginning. Much of the descriptions were drawn out and boring. I didn’t even like the title as it wasn’t really about the seamstress of New Orleans.

Perhaps the print version would be better than the audio - thr narrator's voice was much too sweet for my ears. The plot twist was certainly no surprise. I appreciated the theme of empowering women of the era, but the story fell way short for me.
