I am a huge fan of Kristin Hannah. Her writing is always so immersive and detailed. I will read anything she writes!

What I enjoyed:
• emotional, heart tugging, funny
• a deeper look into relationships and self love
• the writing
• atmospheric details

What could have been better?
• i was so frustrated with the characters and their decisions. It was hard for me to understand their decisions (not a bad thing just a personal preference)
• felt unfinished in the end

There is a reason that Kristin Hannah made it big with The Nightingale and The Great Alone. I enjoyed this book, but I won't be making an effort to work through her extensive backlist. I would reach for them in an airport or grab one to take to the beach, though. In this book, Elizabeth has lost herself in 24 years of marriage, moving, and raising children. She's unhappy in her marriage, and knows her husband is, too. When he gets yet another new opportunity, she decides not to move cross country with him. I loved that this showed the mistakes both of them had made, and didn't put all the blame on Jack, though on the surface that's where it would fall. I wish Jack had made a bit more connection between the dreams of youth he felt he'd missed out on and the bad boy behavior he was campaigning to end in sports, but I appreciated that we heard his voice as well.
