Bas is a Sentinel turned assassin that fell in love with Myst four years (maybe 5 years) prior and they have a daughter, Molly, together. After Molly had been kidnapped, her and Myst have been communicating telepathically and she needed her mother. So Myst showed up at Bas's. The Brotherhood is after Myst, she was sold to them as a child by her family for her clairvoyance, she had a vision about her creating a weapon that will destroy the High Bloods. Now, they will do anything to get her back. Molly has the ability to activate latent powers within the High Bloods and bring people happiness. All the guards love Molly and are willing to do whatever it takes to protect her. Although, the weapon isn't what everyone thought it would be.

The tension between Myst and Bas was palpable, you could also almost feel their chemistry as it sizzled off the page. These two have been apart, since Myst disappeared four years prior but their attraction to each other was like she had never left. No matter how hard Bas fought it, how much his feeling of betrayal was in the forefront of his thoughts, the attraction still won out. Their daughter, Molly, brightened everything even the danger they were all facing. Bas is an intriguing character that brings so much to the table with his complexity, he is both a hardened assassin and a softie when it comes to his daughter. I also enjoyed watching the interactions between the Mave and Wolfe those two deserve their own story. They have an intense attraction and with them continuing to fight it, it will eventually blow up. Kaede is an interesting character, he deserves his happiness. It was sad how Kaede and Bas met, he's a good loyal guy.

There is so much going on in this story, all of the characters were well written and interesting. Their growth and interactions had a natural feel to them, any questions that I had during the time I was reading this story was answered by the last page. It took me a little time to get into the story, before it really caught my attention, but between the kidnappings, murder attempts, talk of the weapon, I was intrigued and wanted to know what happened next. I'm really glad I took a chance on this book.

Even assassins have a heart. In Bas’s case it resides in the person of his young daughter Molly. When Molly’s mother, Myst, shows up on his doorstep Bas is torn between the desire to kill her or keep her. She hasn’t been far from his mind (or heart) since she left Molly with him. He finally has the opportunity to find out her secrets and is determined to do so. But can he handle the truth? Blood Lust is the third in the Sentinels series and a terrific addition. The characters are colorful and real. This story will get your heart racing and have you biting your nails. A fantastic read.

overall this was a good read. you don't really know much about the women in this story. Only that she is Molly's mother which made for an interesting twist in the storytelling. I like that the book pick up close to where 2 left off. overall it was a good read.

Bas & Myst shared one passion-filled afternoon five years ago, and then she slipped away as if she'd never existed. Bas might have thought the entire encounter was only a dream, except for the baby she left him nine months later. The last four years have kept him lamenting the woman that would give up her own child, then disappear. Imagine his surprise when merely days after his daughter is safely returned from a kidnapping, Myst appears at his door. Begrudgingly, Myst explains her need to constantly move, never staying in one place too long, as well as her need to steer clear of little Molly - for her own safety. Bas becomes determined to get to the bottom of Myst's fated destiny, because just as he felt five years ago, Bas cannot allow Myst to disappear from his life again.

The love Bas felt for Myst right from the beginning was all-consuming for him. He was willing to do anything, go anywhere to make sure Myst could be by his and Molly's side. Myst was willing to do anything at all to be certain that Molly and Bas would be safe. It was very nice to see this little family grow together throughout the book.

The only real downside (and it's not really even a downside) to this book was that I figured out what Myst's weapon was quite early in the story, so there really was no big reveal for me. I found it to be quite obvious, but I'd be interested to see if other readers found it to be as glaring as I did.

A big thank-you to NetGalley for providing this ARC to me in exchange for an honest review. I love to be able to continue series' that I began with NetGalley, so thank-you as well for providing all three of the books in this series so far!

Blood Lust by Alexandra Ivy is the perfect mix of action, romance and drama!

Bas and Myst have two of the coolest names I've ever seen in a book, let me say that outright. And now, onto the review!

I've been hoarding Alexandra Ivy books on my shelves for years now, so I was thrilled to finally pick up one of the books hanging around on my shelves. This book was a lovely book to start off with, even if it was third in the series. I had no problem jumping into this story and I fell in love with these mysteriously epic characters! In this book, Myst and Bas have a young girl named Molly (she has such a normal name for her parents having cool ones, just saying...) and she brings them back together. Bas, the assassin, and Myst, the woman who's seen a very important vision, are such a strangely well paired couple. They are hot and bothered and ready to fight.

I loved that this book wasn't purely romance - I've gotten tired of the "this is a fantasy book" but it really is all romance trope that I've been seeing lately. Having this book full of intense drama and action with the romance coming in closer to the end felt REALLY nice. These two characters are definitely made for the romance sphere, but they also have such incredible back stories that it would have been a waste to not explore them. So, kudos to Alexandra Ivy for making this book so different.

My notes on the book are as followed:
1. You can see the ending coming from a mile away, but that's probably just me reading too much and watching too many movies.
2. This book is easy to jump into as a stand alone, but I might have understood a little bit more of the world building if I had read the first two books in the series.
3. The fantasy in this book is REALLY COOL. You can tell a world is being built around this series, so I really hope there's more books to come.
4. I love the relationship between Bas and Myst. They are sassy, sarcastic and yet romantic at all the right times.
5. The story felt "real" - you can believe that Bas and Myst would go save their daughter. All of the plot points didn't feel forced and worked really well within the story as a whole.
6. If I had to pick one negative for me, it would be that the book felt just a little too long. Some scenes could have been cut out and the story would have made just as much sense.

Overall, I really liked this book! It was a great mix of fantasy, action and romance and I'd highly recommend it to someone looking to fill the void in those genres. I wouldn't recommend purely binging it. I liked it much more when I was able to set it down and jump back into the world.

Four out of five stars.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

Bas has been an assassin for most of his long existence. He's is used to being a target but when unknown forces target his little girl, Molly, well there will not be much left of them when he finds them. After her kidnapping he is on high alert so when his one time fling and Molly's mother reappears from nowhere, he is suspicious at the timing of her return.

Myst never truly wanted to leave her daughter behind but it was not safe to take her with her and she knew Bas would keep her safe. The mental link between mother and daughter surfaced during the kidnap and she just wants to make sure Molly is ok and then she will vanish from her life again, all to keep her safe. But Bas has no intention of letting her go before she answers some big questions!

The Brotherhood are hunting for Myst and the weapon she is prophesied to make for them, which could end all supernatural life, their main goal. With psychotic bad guys, power hungry females and passion filled interludes, this is a hot, hot read.

There are layers to the plot and these will be thread through into further books in the series I hope. The characters are complex and all have their own flaws. Bas may be an assassin but he is still a good guy if you know what I mean???

Chock full of action, adventure, scintillating encounters and sweetness in the form of the adorable Molly. brilliant read!
