This story does not follow the children, it follows the reporters to show them how written word and photos can affect others outside their world. Great book, not sure I would re-read but it’s a good one nonetheless.

So, I guess I just went into the story with the wrong expectations. It's strange to think of the irony though, since my pre-conceived conception of this book was based solely on the cover, much like the people's conception of the family within the photo that stars this whole book off in the first place.
Simply put, don't go into this book expecting a story from the narrative of children suffering in poor communities or being sold and living with the consequences. This story is from the point of view of people in the newspaper staff. It is more about them dealing with the guilt and consequences of making a mistake that landed other people in less fortunate circumstances. And come to think of it, it was quite dramatic. I thought it would be a stoic story.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed the book, after adjusting my point of view. I was anxious to know how the reporter, Ellis, could right his wrongs especially faced with monetary constraints. And although I understand why the author felt it necessary to put in Lily's point of view.... it was just kind of dry to me. I didn't think her whole thing between two men and a child was really necessary. I felt like the domestic conflict of marriage, could've been left out and still been a good story. But then, maybe that's just me.
Overall, I would recommend this book for 14+ readers. (Depending on sensitivity levels. Curses are let out as exclamations but not as far as the F word if memory serves me; Violent scenes are left to a minimum; A couple of kiss scenes, no sex.)
