While I generally love a good horror story, I am easily distracted when anything unnatural is introduced into an otherwise completely realistic setting. So I was pleasantly surprised with how Carter was able to blend the realistic with the fantastic into his story. It was jarring, yes, but in the way horror is supposed to be. I never once found myself distracted by the unnatural.
I did initially have trouble getting started on this one, but once it got going, I was hooked!
