I laughed out loud. I cheered. I cried. I finally listened to Martin Denny (11 books. You’d think I’d have gotten there sooner.)
Every time Stark goes to Donut Universe, I need an oversized pastry and a cup of coffee.
There are old friends, new monsters and the story ain’t done. Just what I expect from Sandman Slim.

Another slam dunk in this sharp, no-holds-barred, one of a kind series! This instalment carried far more emotional heft than I expected, and I loved it for that!
The story was filled with all the noir and twists and mystery we've come to expect from the Sandman Slim novels, but this was a mystery that truly stumped him and cost far more than he could ever image. Especially near the end, with an emotional gut-punch that I had to reread cause I barely believed it happened. There were demons, cults, tricks and traps, and all kind of wild adventures and misadventures.
Stark continues to be one of my favourite anti-heroes. He is complex, challenging, and filled with wit. I honestly loved how he coped with the turmoils of his love life, his struggle to find his place, and his ferocity when tragedy struck. He is fantastic!
The entire series is a must for anyone who wants to experience dark, gritty urban fantasy, fierce action, and sharp writing. I loved it!

Every time a new Sandman Slim book comes out I'm reminded how perfect MacLeod Andrews is as narrator. Hearing him enunciate "I barked some Hellion hoodoo" makes my life complete.

Sandman Slim is back! All the way back! And he has no idea what to do now that he is. He finds that while there are a lot of problems he can punch, shoot, and slice, there are others that require a different solution. Still jammed with action. But I am liking it when the characters get to grow some.

Another fun read in the series. Some of the same ideas might be getting a little stale, and the finish with Zadkiel was a bit anticlimactic (for now...). But still another good time and a good come full circle in some ways. I will miss Vidocq... Looking forward to the conclusion in the series, whenever that comes. Take your time Mr. Kadrey. We're all looking very forward to it.

This series gets better with each book. Kadrey is a master story teller.
