'New Suns: Original Speculative Fiction by People of Color' edited by Nisi Shawl is a great anthology of speculative fiction written by authors of color.
Like any short story collection, there were some stories that I enjoyed more than others but I think overwhelmingly this a great collection of stories that is diverse not only in its authors but also in the genres and length of the pieces.
Some of my personal favorites in this collection included "The Virtue of Unfaithful Translations" by Minsoo Kang, 'The Freedom of the Shifting Sea' by Jaymee Goh, 'Dumb House' by Andrea Hairston, and 'Three Variations on a Theme of Imperial Attire' by E. Lily Yu.
One of my favorite things about anthologies is that they allow you to find great stories by authors that you are already familiar with and discover new authors that you want to read more from. This anthology has definitely brought some new authors to my attention that I am excited to seek out in the future. Hopefully, there will be more installments like this anthology in the future.
