As always, great illustration and digestible history from Hale. Though I loved Lafayette as a protagonist, I found the battles slightly repetitive. I also had this issue with [b:Raid of No Return|34227644|Raid of No Return (Nathan Hale’s Hazardous Tales, #7)|Nathan Hale|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1508181097l/34227644._SX50_.jpg|55281390], so I surmise I just find war books little tedious.

4.5/5. I never knew how little I knew about Lafayette, and, boy, did I have fun learning!

Another win from NHHT!! Jackson said this was difficult to follow and I agree. I think it was because there were lots of names that came in and out, turned spy and then weren't, and all the illustrations were similar (old white dudes). I also flew as fast as I could through it so that didn't help.
I so dearly love NHHT. I just love his approach to American History, educating all through this format. Especially since he always throws in those little tidbits like "George Washington's horse died of heatstroke." Who knew?

Fun read, I think this is suitable for younger children. I definitely wish I had the chance to read these when I was younger.

I can't say enough about how much I love Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales and this chapter is one of my favorites so far. Great book period but would be especially great to hand to kids who are Hamilton fans because, of course, a lot of familiar faces and events pop up. Lafayette is also a character that I think is really easy for younger readers to get behind and cheer on.
