THOUGHTS -
Let's make this quick. This was a work of art, I almost cried it was so beautiful. There were parts in the book where Neftali's imagination would take off with him and I'd have no idea what was happening. BUT that didn't matter at the end, it was irrelevant.

Upsetting how I don’t remember much about this book, only that it was beautiful and that I finished it in one sitting. Will definitely re-read

I found this book hard to read. There were bits of nonsense thrown into the narrative, which fit with the character, but broke the flow of the story for me. I read it because my kids were reading it...I had no idea that this was tied to an actual person - and I was disappointed with the lack of plot. Once I realized it was about Pablo Naruto's childhood I realized I had been expecting too much 'action' and looked back on it more fondly.

4.5/5 stars. Beautiful writing and an amazing story. I would lay down my life for Neftalí. Also, this book made me realize that I've really gotta start reading more in Spanish.

İnanılmaz güzel bir kitaptı. Yer yer duygulandırdı ter yer hüzünlendirdi. Çok severek okudum.

This is a beautiful looking children’s book. It’s a fictionalised account of the childhood of Pablo Neruda and is a great introduction to him as well as to the history of Chile. The illustrations and arrangement of the text really add to the story and I loved the magical realism that is woven through the story.
