10/10/2022 listened to Double Sin (read by Hugh Fraser?). Sounds like a good selection of narrators for other stories.

Miss Christie likes to include the supernatural in her short stories and this collection is no exception.

A collection of eight short stories - many of which had been previously published - featuring Poirot and Marple with a couple standalones thrown in. All of the Poirot short stories have been adapted to screen for the BBC miniseries, and to their advantage. Those particular stories read quickly and distantly, but make excellent TV fodder. The two standalone short stories were a bit out of character for Agatha Christie in being ghost stories with occult elements that were entertained rather than explained. Because they were written in her usual style, the lack of a whodunit reveal actually cripples their efficacy as horror. It was these two stories that brought the collection from a middling three to a two star. Would give this a pass unless you're grasping for that completionist badge.

Overall a really strong collection of short stories, some feature Poirot and other Miss Marple. The only duds were the one with the psychic and the one with the creepy doll. Not my cup of tea.

Audiobook version is fantastic, especially with David Suchet doing the reading for the Poirot stories.

Not what I was expecting as my copy has an older cover that does not show that the stories are not one connected piece but separate. Still a great read and it was mainly short stories so if one does not want a chapter book this would be perfect for them.
