I followed this book series as it was being posted as a web comic. It’s extremely well paced and well written. The author had expressed that she would write a lighthearted book that dealt with issues many queer teens and young adults deal with in life and she delivered.

rating bumped up from the first read...this book's just so damn fun, ridiculously hilarious, and heartwarming. just a bundle of pure fun and joy all around.

while the narrative can feel disparate and disjointed at times + im not at all fond of bros or bro-dom, the samwell hockey team's just rly accepting and funny. all the different personalities can create some conflicts but also a whole lot of loveable moments as well. and i love bitty's earnest self; shitty's colorful persona; and enjoy the ups and down of bitty's first two yrs in uni. reading this book makes me rly miss my college days, though it was nowhere near as fun as this lmao.

also im amazed at how ukazu is able to so masterfully write abt ppl wholly different from herself; it's a marvel tbh. it's great that i so thoroughly enjoy this book despite being a reread!

this was really cute and it made me giggle on numerous occasions. bitty is completely adorable and this was the softest book that i've read in a while.

the reason it doesn't get five stars is because i felt like i didn't really get to know the secondary characters, which i would've really enjoyed.

When I first heard about this graphic novel I immediately was drawn to it: I'm a huge hockey fan, I love baking and I'm a "YouTuber" - the main character Bitty and I are so alike! So no one is as disappointed as I am when I say this graphic novel fell flat for me.

First things first, I ADORED this art style and the "episodic" feel it had. But truth be told, that's pretty much it in terms of what I really enjoyed. I just feel as though nothing really...happened. Don't get me wrong, I love slice-of-life stories (no pun intended), but this was just so uneventful. And the big event that happened at the very end seemed so abrupt - it really threw me off. Part of the reason this event felt so abrupt was the fact that there was no real character development/relationship development. I understand that with graphic novels it's a little more difficult to do this, but it left a lot to be desired. I enjoyed the LGBTQIA+ rep in this, but again I just wanted a little bit more. I think my biggest problem with this graphic novel was how stereotypical it was of athletes, but specifically hockey players - I think the author was trying WAY to hard to sound like a "bro" - the overuse of profanity, etc. got really distracting (and I'm someone who can swear like a sailor so...yeah.)

There was nothing inherently wrong with this graphic novel, and I enjoyed it for what it was, but I'm sad to say that I don't plan on continuing on with this series. :(

I absolutely loved this! Baking and hockey and fun characters. I liked the format this was told in as well; it felt unique for a graphic novel format. While I don't know much about hockey, I learned a lot in this story. I can't wait to read the second book!
