Would this be a comic review by me if it didn't include me gushing about the art? No! So you know I gotta do it!! The art style in Skip is really unique but it also worked with the plot of the story incredibly well. Bright colours, trippy shapes and concepts it was AMAZING!! I'll be honest the plot was a bit convoluted but the art and inter-dimensional friendship kept me going.

If you want a graphic novel with cool art, light plot, friendship and dimension hopping then this is for you!

ps. Features some of the best tears I've ever seen!

Beautiful artwork, colour and illustrations. Can see there is a message behind the story but it’s not always the easiest to interpret

The art is STUNNING. Part of me wonders what the experience would have been like if there was no dialogue whatsoever. At times, it felt like the dialogue took away from the storyline, rather than propelling it forward. Highly recommend checking it out for the visuals!

Really extraordinary art and a joyful, slippery story about friendship, responsibility, authenticity, loss, and new connection across worlds/worldviews.

disclaimer, this was sent to me by nobrow press!

the story was simple and dreamy and easy to follow despite its abstract otherworldliness, and the characters were just delightfully designed. the color and overall art is beyond gorgeous, the way mendoza weaves together abstract and concrete is really really beautiful! there are a bunch of pages from this that could just. go in a museum. i definitely understand the critiques of it being hard to follow, but i tried not to overthink it and let myself absorb the artwork and dialogue, and i really enjoyed it!

i also love a little story where gender simply doesn’t exist
