As much as I love Eugenides I was glad to spend more time with Costis and to learn about Kamet. I hope they factor into the final book.

Let's just say I'm glad a bunch of strangers on the internet convinced me to finish this series.

Finished in a few hours of reading before and after work today. A quick, bright, and refreshing story. Some familiar characters, but a new and satisfying narrator perspective and a good conclusion to the series. I am sorry there isn't more to read after this.

This one might be my second favorite (after king of attolia). Kamet and Costis are ridiculously lovable. this book very much gives “the thief” (book 1) but better and more proficiently written. It also brings up some poignant questions the similarities and differences between slave and soldier.

It’s been amazing seeing Costis from another perspective as well. In this book we really get to see his charismatic, competent, authoritative, good-hearted nature. Kamet is also wonderful to psychoanalyze. His character is so fully developed and so distinct from any other character we’ve seen this far.

Also, I don’t know if this is just me, but once you start reading with idea that it is a romance, its very easy to see it as such. I know they are probably just very good friends though

This book is also a very good set up for the
upcoming war (?) with the Mede.
Very excited to read the last (💔💔💔) book in the series!

5 years???!!!!! since i last read this book???!!!! my lord, that explains why rereading this series feels like discovering water in the middle of the desert!! no one does intrigue and plot twists and CHARACTERS quite like Megan Whalen Turner, and I am everyday on my knees crying tears of joy over the fact that these books are getting some more SOOOO well-deserved recognition!!!!!!!!!! being blurbed by popular contemporary authors like Laini Taylor, Holly Black or Leigh Bardugo..... may I dare even saying those people wouldn't have been able to even crawl if The Queen's Thief hasn't run beforehand!!! The OG fantasy that outdoes everything else that came after it, and I am begging, ON MY KNEES, that everyone reads these books!!!!!!!!

1st read: 4-5 September 2019

Such a fascinating perspective. I don't know any other author who could pull this off so well.

Excellent, as always. Love the tiny details woven through.

Thick As Thieves is the weakest on its own, but when you read straight through the series it gains depth and I have definitely enjoyed it more on rereads (2nd and 3rd) than I did the first time. There is plenty of subtle subtext trying it into the books on either side. And, of course, the Attolian is always a delight.
