That was a fun little solo adventure, even though I usually prefer Decide Your Destiny books where you only have to choose and don't need dice.

Didn't make it through this time, but I lasted a lot longer than I had anticipated, especially since the dice tended to favour most enemies.

I liked playing/reading this 'fighting fantasy' as a kid, at least I did until one of the pages fell out and got lost and completely ruined the game!

I was an avid Fighting Fantasy fan as a child, but I think I must have cheated a lot more than I remember! Playing this again and drawing a map of the maze/actually rolling the dice to get a random initial score meant thus took a while to complete. However it gave me time to admire the intricacies of the design and gameplay, great fun

Many Many years ago, when I was a wee little shitling (just turned 13). In the early 2000s, I saw a trailer for a book. This trailer to be exact:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZgDNuYgVcU

And it set me off on a journey of reading gamebooks - and getting me into TTRPGs.

This book to me is a classic. It's a maze of death in different ways BUT it is rewarding when you manage to do it. Plus I remember reading it with some paper and pencils drawing the map as I went along, I miss those days.

I enjoyed it so much that to this day I still have this book with the set I saved up for all of them years ago. The fact that I have managed to hold onto the set for nearly 19 years says something to me about a book/set.
