This was the epitome of #girlboss vibes and millennial humor. “Adulting,” their office space was pretty “clutch,” Graeme is a “snack” lmao I could go on. It was okay, but Henley was so rude at times and pretty unlikeable.

Eerily familiar plot

I liked it. Didn’t love it. From the beginning it felt like a copy of very popular book in the genre which was made into a movie recently (about two coworkers, who play games, and hate each other). I did enjoy it but the basic premise between the main characters was almost identical to that story. I did enjoy the writing and the unique settings and how obvious it is that the author knows her stuff.

Has some of the same basic tropes and cliches that most romance books do

A really enjoyable escapist romance with enemies to lovers, sisterhood, and a strong helping of being a badass woman in the workplace!

Enemies to lovers that fell short of the mark. Not awful. The part about Galapagos was good enough to make it a 3 star rather than 2 star. Henley just wasn't a good person and I wasn't rooting for her.

As the description said on Amazon - this is absolutely a cross between The Unhoneymooners and The Hating Game, both of which I loved which is why I decided to give this one a go.
Henley and Graeme are vying for the same promotion and go on one of their company cruises as a way to research and improve on marketing the vacation. There are such beautiful descriptions of the Galapagos, and since I haven't gone anywhere thanks to COVID, it was nice to at least imagine traveling to gorgeous locations again.
I really loved the banter and chemistry between Henley and Graeme - they definitely clicked. The only thing I would want more of was more of the competitiveness while they worked together. We got a little glimpse at the beginning of the book but I wanted just a bit more.
And one thing I enjoyed about this book was the ending. I don't want to spoil too much but it involves an office trope that I've been reading lately where the outcome seems to be the same, at least in my recent reads. This time, the way things are resolved felt so much more satisfying to me, and I appreciated that difference.
Overall, this was a really cute, light, vacation read and I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
