I remember liking it but the details are sadly fuzzy now. :(

Chad Oliver is an underrated science fiction author from the 1950s and 1960s, and "Unearthly Neighbors" is a good example of just how; underrated the man is.

This is a first-contact novel in which Earthlings discover beings very much like ourselves on a distant planet - an exciting prospect for all involved, especially the crew of anthropologists and linguists that almost immediately set-out on the eleven-month trip to that planet. The team from Earth is surprised by the reaction of the beings they have intruded upon, but whose fault was that, really? What happens next may just be decided by one man from Earth and one from the newly discovered planet.

"Unearthly Neighbors" is far from the kind of pulp science fiction that was so popular in the fifties. This one holds up very well, in fact, and will give even the casual scifi fan something to think about when it's done.
