This book was better than the original Jefferson Bass mystery, Carved in Bone. The plot was much less predictible and there was a lot more of the forensic details that I love. A nice read and a lot of fun. Again, I really enjoyed all the details about East Tennessee as well. I can't wait to read the next one.

Ack! If you want endless descriptions about car journeys and local geography, this one should be right up your alley! If you want an exciting forensic thriller, maybe re-read Patricia Cornwell (her early stuff) or Kathy Reichs. The main murder doesn't occur until the book is nearly half-over! Boooooring!

Very good mystery focusing on forensic science, BUT ... I figured out both killers way before our hero did. And the ending was rather abrupt and neat. The writing team really moves the story along (whish is a must for murder mysteries), and gives you some insight into the characters (which shows some maturity of writing style).

I liked the characters and it had some good twists. However, I found the body farm concept gruesome.

Another good book in the Body Farm Series. I thought it steered too far toward a couple political and social messages that the authors might be trying to deliver, but they redeemed that with a good story, a really interesting twist, and good enough characters. I solved the mystery a pretty good distance ahead of the characters, but it was nice to see it all wrapped up. I knew the answer, but the particulars kept me guessing. Like other reviewers, I find Dr. Brockton and his approach to life and problem solving a bit too "nice" for the realities described in the book. I think the authors need to step out of his way and let Dr. Brockton be himself instead of what they want him to be. I will likely continue on to book three in the series.

This wasn't really a stand out murder mystery as far as they go, but it was an enjoyable read. Some issues touched on aren't really explored beyond what was needed for the plot, but it also meant the writing didn't really take sides.
