Dead Man's Cove is one is a trilogy out of the three this is far the best. Great mystery book set in St. Ives of Cornwall. As I know the town well especially the beaches and when reading the book knowing the places is fun to image the character in the setting you know and love. Great read for younger reader!

I really enjoy books by Lauren st John and this didnt disappoint. It is the first of the mystery series I've read and I wish I'd seen it sooner. Full of fast paced adventure with twists and turns along the way. Great for all those wannabe detectives and mystery enthusiasts (like me).

Really enjoyed the character of Laura, and it was very cleverly written so that, despite the fact Laura spent a lot of time alone and so could go a little while without interacting with others, I did not find her boring. I liked the plot (very hard hitting for a childrens book though?!) and I look forward to reading more of Lauren St. John's books.

Fun young girl's mystery. Loved Skye, the three legged husky, and really enjoyed reading about the protagonists friend from Bangladesh. Premise was good. Only downside for me was the story took a while to get to the good mystery and I struggled to connect with the protagonist, I found her a little self-centred, I think it was because she kept turning down adoption offers because she thought she might find something better. Once the action does pick up, it's quite good.

Oh boy, I really did not enjoy this. I felt like nothing happened until page 144/201, and what did happen I didn’t believe at all. Why would the gang just....leave the children?

I also was troubled by the descriptions of the Mukhtars as stereotypes, and why was Atari’s constantly referred to as the Asian boy? There was no reference to any of the other characters as white?

I liked the illustrations a lot and there are really nice descriptions of St Ives, but that was about it for me. This could definitely just be a taste thing, my mum loved it and I could see a child reader getting into it.

I just remembered that this book existed - I read it when I was 9, and it was one of my favorite books. Just thought I’d mark it as read!

At somepoint, I want to read all of this author’s books. Not only was I a huge fan of the Laura Marlin series, but I also loved The White Giraffe series! I need to reread all of them and read her newer works!
